Client: Lincoln Motors | Director: Keegan Wilcox | Agency: The Reserve
This spot emphasizes the luxury concierge service that Lincoln now offers. Customers can drop off their car to be serviced and use a loaner car for the day, so they can run errands without their lives being interrupted. We focused mainly on the lifestyle of the main character, and the ethereal, serene lighting, rather than on product shots.
Client: Charter Cable | Director: Rob Groenwold | Agency: BRW USA
For this spot, Rob wanted to emphasize the charisma of vine star Zach King, utilizing his magician-esque visual effects trickery to tell a unique story about using Charter cable across a variety of devices throughout a household. Because Zach’s vines tend to incorporate playing with physics and light, the spot echoed that with ethereal, natural lighting and environments.
Client: Dunkin Donuts| Director: Snorri Sturlson
This spot was a camera-work focused, stop-motion inspired story, showing how Dunkin Donuts has refreshing beverages over the course of the year’s seasons. It was interesting to pair classic New England-centric architectural elements with the intimate shots of people enjoying coffee.
Client: Baylor College of Medicine | Director: The Chartrands | Agency: Lucky 21
I loved this treatment because of the abstract quality of the shots we selected. Medical education is all about connecting complex biological systems to the human element. Pairing the macro photography and abstract objects with images of emotion was a great way to communicate the heritage of this institution.
Carmichael Psychology Web Redesign // DrChloe.com
In 2014, working with Dr. Chloe, we realized it was time for a complete redesign of her wordpress site. Her previous theme was not responsive, relied on too many third-party plugins, and was generally not reflecting her calm, clean brand aesthetic. Upon project approval, within days, her new site was live, and she was thrilled with the new look of the site while retaining all of her existing pages and posts.
Online Anxiety Management Tools // AnxietyTools.com
In 2014, after the successful relaunch of DrChloe.com, our focus shifted to developing a new product to help patients learn the most common techniques to treat their anxiety symptoms. Originally, this product was an interactive PDF, but it soon evolved into a web-based product. Using the framework reveal.js, I recreated the content to be responsive, and more interactive.
Site Launch // AdrianVaca.com
In 2016, I was approached by an production director I frequently work with, to design a new website for her talented husband, Adrian Vaca. We had a session of need discovery, and developed a plan to create three unique landing pages for each of Adrian’s common roles: Teacher, Composer, and Performer.
Site Launch // CreativeServices.VoyageMedia.com
I have been working with Voyage Media since I began freelancing full-time in 2012, mostly as a layout designer and visual researcher. As I got more adept at web design, my role shifted towards that realm. In 2016 it was decided to move the portfolio of creative work off of the company’s primary domain. Using the theme Divi, I created all of the custom graphics, customized the site’s functions, and installed a flexible lightbox for viewing projects.
Many of these illustrations represent current socio-political issues. I love depicting the complexities and layered nuances present in political opinion pieces. In these compositions, I mainly utilize public domain imagery, and my own typographic details.
These works display my process of taking any set of letters, and turning it into a decorative composition.
Giphy x Bonnaroo
In Summer 2015 I was approached by art director Jess Gillam at Giphy, Inc. to create some original GIFs for Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Machester, TN. I aimed to express the techno-hippie vibe of the fest. The main logo GIF was featured on Tumblr’s Radar during the first day of the festival.
Giphy x BOSE
Around November 2015, I was again approached by art director Jess Gillam at Giphy, Inc. to create an original GIF for Bose, to promote the release of their new customizable Quiet Comfort Headphones. The client had already picked a GIF I had produced earlier, and wanted to replicate the look. I was glad to incorporate that existing 3D minimalist aesthetic while still playing up the complexity.
In the summer of 2014, I was contacted by Poppie Van Herwerden of Astronauts Wanted, a joint venture between Judy McGrath, former Chairperson and CEO of MTV Networks, and Sony Music Entertainment. Because their base audience are mid-late teens, I was encouraged to utilize sickly sweet, tumblr-centric aesthetics.
Music Putty Branding
In the summer of 2014, I was invited to join a lean start-up in Santa Cruz, CA. For six intense weeks we worked together and launched Music Putty, a combination internet radio station and fundraising platform. I led the art direction for the project, focusing on logo development, UX/UI, social media assets, and presentation design. For more information about this project, contact founder + CEO Arash Namvar.
Sarasota Arts + Cultural Alliance’s Annual Arts Awards
This project, from 2013, was a welcome opportunity to implement my collage/overlay style in the context of branding an event. The featured image applied perfectly to all the different platforms for promotion, including multiple invitations, event signage, ceremony program, and print/web ads.
Sidebern’s Restaurant Branding
In the summer of 2013, I worked with Macolm Bowen of eNox Media to rebrand an iconic Tampa restaurant, SideBern’s. This logo design won 2013’s “Best of the Bay” Addy Award. The logo features seasonal variations which are featured on the restaurant’s seasonal menus. The “all-season” version is featured on permanent fixtures.
Album Cover — “Without A Love” by The Title Sequence
In 2013, Manchester-based band, The Title Sequence, contacted me because they liked what I’d been posting on tumblr and twitter. I was so glad to help them with creating material for their upcoming release ‘Without a Love’ — a totally infectious indie-electro tune with a brit-pop twist. I created the official cover, poster, and web-ready assets for the release. Additionally, I created an animated version of the cover for extra social medial appeal.
Editorial Design — LadyGunn Magazine Vol. 3, Summer 2011
In the summer of 2011, I was interning at HarperCollins Publishers in their Editorial Design department. While working 9-5 every day, I was introduced to the start-up magazine LadyGunn and was excited to provide my extra time with the design of their 3rd volume. The release of this volume solidified LadyGunn’s presence in the indie mag community. Not only did I design many feature spreads and FOB/BOB sections, but I assisted on photoshoots, consulted on styling, and developed a streamlined production pipeline.
Biz941 Magazine Section Openers
From Feb 2013 – March 2014, I worked for Sarasota Magazine. During this time I developed many of the special advertising sections, designed countless sectional ads, and consistently aided with FOB/BOB needs. I worked a lot with Biz941, the business-centric publication under the umbrella of Gulfshore Life Publications, which has since been acquired by Sagacity Media.
